Bangladeshi short film ‘Kobi Swamir Mrityur Por Amar Jobanbondi’, written and directed by Tasmiah Afrin Mou and produced by Rubaiyat Hossain, has won ‘Tareque Shahriar Best Independent Shorts’ award at the 14th International Short and Independent Film Festival (ISIFF).
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor handed over the prize to director Tasmiah Afrin Mou on the closing day of the weeklong ISIFF in the capital’s National Museum on Saturday. Tasmiah Afrin Mou received crest, certificate and cash money worth of BDT 25000.
This year, more than 500 films by the promising filmmakers from all over the world were selected from 2500 submitted films from 108 countries. The festival screened those short films which were screened at several film festivals such as Oscar, Cannes Film Festival, Festival del film Locarno and others.
Besides, ‘Tareque Shahriar Best Independent Shorts’ award, the festival also conferred International Competition (Fiction), International Competition (Documentary) and NETPAC Jury Award.
The jury for the ‘Tareq Shahriar Best Independent Shorts’ award consists Zahidur Rahim Anjan, Sajedul Awal and Shabnam Ferdousi.
The cast of the film includes Dilruba Hossain Doyel, Ali Ahsan, Maria, Raita and Irin Parvin. National award winning editor and sound designer Sujan Mahmud is the editor and sound designer of the film, and Imranul Islam is the director of photography. The film is a production of Khona Talkies. l
