Four people, including two women, were killed and 29 others injured as a bus plunged into a paddy field on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in Panir Chhara area of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar yesterday afternoon, reports UNB. The deceased were indentified as Razia Begum, 25, wife of Shafiqur Rahman of Toitong in Pekua upazila, Faruque, 20, son of Ebadullah of Leburchhari village in Kutubdia upazila, Nur Nahar Begum, 45, wife of late Kabir Ahmed of Bhewla village in Chakaria upazila of the district, and Mohammad Kashem, 45, hailing from Dhaka.
Police said the Chittagong-bound ‘Unique Paribahan’ bus fell into the paddy field around 2 pm as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 33 passengers injured. Two of them succumbed to their injuries at Ramu Upazila Health Complex while two others died at Sadar Hospital.
