Cattle trader shot in BSF firing
Kurigram: A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot and wounded by the members of Indian Security Force (BSF) along Balarhat border area in Phulbari upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
The injured was identified as Abu Bakkar, 28, son of Ali Boxs of Gorokmandal village of Naudanga union of the upazila.
Lt Col Jakir Hossain, commanding officer of Kurigram BGB-45 battalion, said a team of BSF Narayanganj camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders along the border in the morning, leaving Bakkar bullet injured.
Rescued by the locals, he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
1 held with firearms, heroin

Police arrested an alleged criminal along with a shooter gun, 100 gram heroin and one round of bullet from Putkhali area under Benapole Port Police Station on Friday night.
The arrestee was identified as Rana Mia, 25, son of Harun, a resident of Balunda village of the border area.
Officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station Apurba Hasan said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Rana at about 11.00 pm.
The law enforcers also recovered a shooter gun, 100 gram heroin and one round of bullet from his possession.
The arrestee was wanted in several cases, the OC added. A case was filed.
Minor girl found dead

A five-year-girl was found dead at Joynarayanpur village in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Jahin Tasnim Rinti, 5, daughter of Nasiruddin, of the village.
Officer-in-Charge of Daganbhuiyan Police Station Aslamuddin quoting family member said Rinti went out of her hosue for playing on Friday evening and did not return home. Her father filed a general diary with Daganbhuiyan Police Station at night. Local people found the body near the house and informed police.
Police arrested a woman in this connection.
Family members said there was a longstanding dispute between Nasiruddin and his neighbor over a disputed land.
Eight juveniles repatriated thru’ Hili check post
RANGPUR: Eight Bangladeshi juveniles were repatriated through Hili Immigration Check Post (ICP) in Dinajpur yesterday after completion of their jail term at a Juvenile Home in India for illegal intrusion, reports BSS.
Officer-in-charge of Hili Mohammad Rafikuzzaman received the youths aged between 13 and 15 years from the OC of Indian Hili ICP Nazir Hossain.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) were present on the occasion.
The repatriated juveniles, who illegally entered Indian territories through different neighboring bordering areas, were detained by BSF and handed over to Indian police in the past.
34 arrested in Satkhira
SATHKHIRA: Police, in special drives from Friday night to yesterday morning, arrested 34 people from seven upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Police said 13 people arrested from Sadar, five from Kalaroa, four from Tala, two from Kaliganj, four from Shyamnagar, two from Assasuni, three from Debhata and one from Patkelghata police stations
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons.
Free eye camp held
PANCHAGARH: Debiganj Upazila Parishad and Gausul Azam Bangladesh National Society for Blind (BNSB) Eye Hospital of Dinajpur jointly arranged a free eye camp on the premises of Debiganj Jamiruddin Dakhil Madrasah under Debiganj upazila of the district on Friday, reports BSS.
