A month-long sculpture exhibition titled ‘Jiboner Onneshan’ by Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan has begun on the premises of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) in the capital’s Agargaon area.
Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq jointly inaugurated the exhibition on December 8. Veteran artist Rafiqun Nabi, sculptor Shah Alam Dastagir, Mobasher Hossain, Abu Sayeed M Ahmed and Iqbal Habib delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. They spoke on the connection between sculptures and architectures bringing different examples from the East and West.
A sculpture park will be established in the Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, Asaduzzaman Noor announced at the programme. Mayor Annisul Huq also revealed a plan for setting up sculptures beside the prominent structures in the city.
Most of the sculptures of this exhibition made with marble and granite. The artist also used bronze, iron and steel to make different types of sculptures. Hamiduzzaman said, “Stone is an element of the nature. I searched the flow of life through the stones.”
The exhibition, which has been organised in association with IAB, is open to all everyday from 12pm to 6pm, until January 7, 2017.
