Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) prepared a plan giving key priority to youth development, grassroots football and school football for the betterment of football in the country.
Held at the BFF Bhaban, Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin elaborately illustrated the programme as the president of BFF announced this in a press meet yesterday.
When he also expressed their next target to play in the final of the SAFF and a respectable place in the Asian Cup for next four years at the press meet.
Salahuddin first of all said, “We have some success during our last two tenures and there were also some failures, so now the time has come to make it freshly.”
Salahuddin said that their programme was composed in two parts – one is their regular activities with domestic leagues and tournaments and another is continuous process.
BFF, in their programme, set the plan for youth development with permanent national camp for the age group players of Under-14, U-16, U-18 and U-19 while they will go for the grassroots development and elite programme of coaches’ education course.
“In our last two tenures we just maintain some of our domestic leagues and some other competitions but could work rare in the grassroots, which time and again was criticised by different quarters, but we want to keep the football on the ground round the year in central, we succeed.”
“Now time has come to take it seriously to concentrate on youth and grassroots development and we will do it with key priority,” Salahuddin replied.
“In fact, fund is great factor to follow the programs set for the development, in the past we also failed to continue some of our plans, but this time I assure you no plan will be stopped for financial shortages, hopefully we will confirm our financial sources very immediate.”
The BFF president also informed that in their future plan and every year’s calendars they kept the Suhrawardi Cup and Sher-e-Bangla national competition, Under-18 club competition, national league and divisional age group tournaments for Under-16 and Under-18.
Salahuddin said, “All these programs were not in our last two years’ tenure, now we set our target and will make it visible through implementing all the programs.”
When there was a question whether they (BFF) will be able to execute the ambitious plan, Salahuddin said, “This time we are fully prepared to execute the plan.”
Meanwhle, BFF president also announced their calendar of 2017 when he explained that the inter-cub players’ transfer of Premier League and BCL scheduled to take place on April, season’s opener Federation Cup on May, league on June-September, Sheikh Kamal and Bangabandhu Cup will also take place.
In the Federation Cup, all the Premier League clubs, BCL teams and services teams will participate while the season will be closed with the Independence Cup where only Premier League teams will play.
Meanwhile, BFF will place their plan to the Sports Ministry and to the Prime Minister for the involvement of government.
