Local batsmen steal the show

Local batsmen fared well to lead the batting chart of BPL-4 while the foreigners dazzled with bowling. Chittagong Vikings captain Tamim Iqbal led the batting with 476 runs with six half-centuries. Tamim was just shy of 11 runs to break the record of highest run in the tournament in a single season. Ahmed Shehzad currently holds the record of making 486 runs in a single season. But in this season, Tamim is the only player to score 400 plus runs. His six half-centuries equalled the record of Shamshur Rahman Shuvo in a single season. Tamim’s batting was the key in steering the side to the top four.

Khulna Titans Mahmudullah Riyad is in the second place with 396 runs while Rajshahi Kings Sabbir Rahman made 377 runs to keep him in top three. He is the only batsman in this season to hit a century. Dhaka Dynamites Kumar Sangakkara scored 370 runs while Rangpur Riders’ Mohammad Shahzad made 350 runs. The other players who score 300 plus runs in Dhaka’s Mehedi Maruf (347), Barisal Bulls’ Mushfiqur Rahim (341), Comilla Victorians’  Marlon Samuels (334), Rajshahi Kings Mominul Haque (331), Rangpur Riders’ Mohammad Mithun (320) and Dhaka’s Mosaddek Hossain (304).
Dhaka’s Dwayne Bravo claimed 21 wickets to lead the bowling chart. Bravo indeed is the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. Khulna Titans Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan took 20 wickets while Chittagong Kings Mohammad Nabi scalped 19 wickets to keep him in top three. Khulna Titans Shafiul Islam snapped up 18 before falling to injury while Rangpr Riders Shahid Afridi picked up 19 wickets.
