Workshop on ‘Research Idea Development’ begins at DIU
A 3-day-long international workshop on “Research Idea Development” began yesterday at Daffodil Iinternational University (DIU) auditorium, says a press release.
Ms Fazilatun Nesa Indira, MP inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
University of South California, USA and Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University jointly organised the seminar. Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice -chancellor, DIU presided over the workshop. Hrishikesh Chakroborty, Dr PH, Associate Professor, Director, Health Science Research core, Director of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, University of South California, USA was present as the keynote speaker in the workshop.
Addressin as the chief guest Ms. Fazilatun Nesa Indira, MP said “Present government has taken massive programmes and implementing these with additional care to ensure sound health for every citizen”. To ensure public health and reduce maternal and child death her government has given appointment of large number of doctors in the rural and urban areas of the country, he added. For the safety of the children of the working female her government has introduced Day-Care Center, extended maternal leave up to six months and nutrition systems of the country have been improved a lot and as a result, the average age of the people increased up to 70, she said.
More than 200 local and foreign participants took part in the workshop. The workshop will continue to December 12.
The seminar was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ismail Mustafa, Dean, of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Professor Dr MSA Monsur and Dr Md. Shahjahan, Head, Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University.
BAU observe Mymensingh Free Day
Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh yesterday held a victory rally on the campus to mark the Mymensingh Free Day.
The day’s first programme started while the Vice-chancellor of BAU Prof Dr Md Ali Akbar hoisted the national flag in front of the administration building.
A victory rally, arranged by the National Day Observance Committee of BAU, was brought out from in front of the university administration building that paraded the main roads of the university and ended on the ‘Moron Sagor’, a liberation war monument, premises on the campus.
Later, the Vice-chancellor placed wreaths at the monument and it was followed by the teachers, students and different associations.
At that time, they remembered the freedom fighters of BAU as well as the country who laid down their lives for the independence and sovereignty of the country.
Mymensingh was freed on December 10 in 1971 from Pakistan occupation army.
