A young man was burnt to death as a house in a slum in Shahjahanpur area of the capital caught early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shipon, 30.
Atikul Islam, duty official of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) control room, said the fire broke out at the house around 3.57am.
On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 4.20am.
Later, the firefighters recovered the charred body of Shipon from the house, said Abdul Mabud, officer-in-charge of Shahjahanpur Police Station.
The fire also burned down a part of a furniture shop adjacent to the house, added the OC.
