At least 15 students were injured in clashes between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student front of the ruling Awami League at Chittagong University yesterday. The injured were being treated at the university medical centre while students with serious injuries were shifted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Two groups--one led by CU BCL unit president Alamgir Tipu and another led by its general secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujjan-- clashed over a trivial matter around 10 last night, according to witnesses. Tension ran high on the campus as both the groups hurled crude bombs during the clash. While filing this report around 11:30pm, the clash was still on and the police were trying to bring the situation under control.
