The Jatiya Sangsad yesterday passed the "Palli Sanchay Bank (amendment) Bill, 2016" with the objectives of motivating the rural poor and underprivileged people in savings, empowerment of women along with increasing their skill, and creating village organizations for economic and social development, and providing them with training and funds, reports BSS.
The bill is also aimed at facilitating the 'One House, One Farm Project' and Palli Sanchay Bank to play an important role in poverty reduction through providing loans.
The House adopted the bill with voice votes with Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan moved the bill in the House for it passage.
The bill was necessitated for continuation of the activities of Palli Sanchay Bank and 'One House, One Farm Project' together.
Earlier, the state minister introduced the bill in the House on December 6, 2016.
