The major price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached yesterday at about two-year high which was 14-month high in the last session of previous week, reports BSS.
DSEX, the major price index of DSE, added 69.80 points over the week at 4892.82 which was the highest after January 18, 2015 when it closed at 4,917.37. Accordingly, the blue-chip DS30 ended over 7.96 points up at 1795.66 and the Shariah DSES 11.86 points higher at 1161.37.
The average daily trade volume increased by 7.89 per cent to 27.15 crore shares when the value surged by 20.83 per cent to Tk 870.13 crore.
Out of the 331 traded securities, 182 closed higher against 120 losing issues when 26 remained unchanged.
The five major gaining companies included HR Textile, Argon Denims, Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills, Daffodil Computers and Bay Leasing and Investment. The five major losing companies included National Tubes, Hakkani Pulp and Paper, Asia Insurance, Doreen Power Generation and Systems and LR Global Bangladesh Mutual Fund.
The top five turnover leaders were IFAD Autos, Bangladesh Building Systems, Shasha Denims, Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills and Argon Denims.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 230.78 points higher at 15071.33.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased significantly.
