Catching, selling puffer fish banned in Sylhet
The district administration has imposed a ban on catching and selling of all types of patka (puffer) fish. Md Joynal Abedin, the deputy commissioner of Sylhet, announced the ban on Wednesday night. Earlier on Tuesday and Wednesday, six people died after eating pufferfish at Uttarmail village in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet
Army chief calls on Qatari Chief of Staff
Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq paid a courtesy call with Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Pilot Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem at his latters office in Qatar on Wednesday, reports BSS.
Belal also met Emiri Land Force Commander Staff Major General Muhammad Ali Ghanem Al Ganim there, an Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) press release said here yesterday.
Certificate award ceremony of BAF Flight held
The certificate award ceremony of No. 57 Flight Safety Officers Course of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was held at Flight Safety Institute (FSI) of BAF Base Bashar in the capital yesterday.
Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bashar Air Vice Marshal Md Abul Bashar attended the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed certificates among the trainee officers, said an Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) press release. Major Md Shameem Ferdous of Bangladesh Army received the Chief of Air Staffs Trophy for his best performance in the course.
Nepalese minister visits Dhakeshwari temple
Nepalese Energy Minister Janardan Sharma (Prabhakar) visited the Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital yesterday morning.
During his visit, he exchanged greetings with leaders of Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee (MSPC) and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP). BPUP Joint General Secretary Nirmal Kumar Chatarjee, MSPC General Secretary Advocate Shyamal Kumar Roy and BPUP Office Secretary Biplab Kumar Dey, among others, were present on the occasion.
Animator training on SDG Ups held in Rajshahi
Peoples of the Local Government Institutions (LGIs), particularly Union Parishads (UPs), are key players towards supplementing the government efforts of attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, said Engineer Abdul Matin.
The grassroots public representatives should gain capacity and competence relating to operating their respective institutions as systemic, disciplined and professional and public entity. 3 personalities, one org get Kazi Mahbubullah award
Begum Zebunnessa and Kazi Mahbubullah Janakalyan Trust has announced the name recipients of the Kazi Mahbubullah Award-2016 marking the month of victory, says a press release.
Three eminent personalities and one organisation have been selected as recipients of the award. They are Prof Dr Syed Monzoorul Islam (literature) , artist Rafiqun Nabi (fine arts), Sultana Kamal (special award-life time achievement) and Bangladesh Agriculture University (science-agriculture).
