On November 24, China Eastern Airlines Yunnan Ltd. had its first flight from Kunming to Sydney, with 227 passengers on board. Becoming the first air route from Yunnan to Australia, it is also Yunnan’s fourth intercontinental route.
There will be one flight on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Airbus 330-200 (A33E) long-haul aircraft will be used for the flights. As a major tourist destination and origin, Yunnan attracts a large number of Australian tourists. The opening of the Kunming - Sydney route will thus serve as an important bridge between the two places, and will help deepen exchanges and cooperation, while further promoting Kunming’s role as an international hub in southwest China.
