Recently, the first Yunnan-Central Asia sea-rail combined transport train departed from Kunming. In just over ten days, the 25 containers (weighing 500 tons) of Kunming Ante Steel Structure Technology Co. Ltd., will arrive at Karachi, Pakistan 14,250 kilometres away, through seamless sea-rail combined transportation.
According to director of the Kunming Customs Field Activity Management Office, the shipment will arrive at Huangpu Old Port within three days. It will then be transferred to a sea transport container ship. The manifest information will be forwarded to Kunming for integrated customs clearance. When the electronic customs declaration data are synchronized to port customs, Huangpu Old Port customs will immediately inspect and release the goods. They will reach their destination by sea in 14 days. In contrast with the traditional customs transfer mode involving complicated procedures, now the goods only need to be declared through local customs and inspected at the port. They are then released for export, greatly simplifying customs procedures, shortening customs clearance times and saving operating costs.
