Today is the second death anniversary of National Film Award-winning actor Khalil. The actor’s family and Shilpi Samiti have taken special initiative to remember the veteran actor in an appropriate manner on his death anniversary today. Actor Omar Sani, who is also the vice president of Shilpi Samiti, said, “Actor Khalil was our true guardian. His death is an irreplaceable loss for the country’s film industry. Special prayers and milad mahfil will be offered today at the mosque of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation after Asr prayer for the salvation of the departed soul. Everyone is requested to attend the prayers.”
On the other hand, his second son Musa Khan informed that floral wreaths will be placed at Khalil’s grave on behalf of his family and residents of the locality.
Khalil was born on February 1 in 1932 in Sylhet. With the film ‘Sonar Kajal’, directed by Kalim Sharafi and Jahir Raihan, Khalil made his debut as a hero. Then, he worked in a few films as a hero, such as ‘Bhawal Sanyani’, ‘Preet Na Jane Reet’, ‘Kajal’, ‘Jangliphul’, and ‘Sangam’, among others.
Khalil won the National Film Award for his role in the film ‘Gunda’, directed by Alamgir Kumkum and produced by once-popular film heroine Kobori.
To note, Khalil acted in more than 800 films in his career.
