Hasan Mahmud for talks with parties representing in JS to form EC

Bangladesh Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud yesterday urged the president to reconstitute Election Commission (EC) with in consultation with political parties having representation in parliament, reports BSS.
He was speaking at a discussion meeting in the capital marking the recognition of independent Bangladesh by India on December 6 in 1971. Jatiya Ganotantrik League organised the discussion meeting at National Press Club.
Referring to submission of EC reconstitution proposal by BNP to the president, Hasan Mahmud hoped that the president would seek a proposal on the issue from the Awami League as the biggest party.
He urged the BNP leaders to abide by decision of the president regarding the EC reconstitution as they have submitted their proposals to him.
The AL leader said the technical glitch in the aircraft during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's flight to Hungary was part of a deep-rooted conspiracy. He suggested forming a probe body with intelligence personnel to investigate the incident.
Conspiracies are still going on to kill Sheikh Hasina, he said and called upon all to resist all conspiracies for the welfare and development of the country.
Presided over by Jatiya Ganotantrik League President MA Jalil, the function was also addressed by AL leader MA Karim, National Awami Party (NAP) Chairman MA Bhashani and Kuwait AL Vice-President Nazrul Islam, among others.
