Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight people, including seven Nigerians of a fraud gang, from Mirpur and Dhakkhin Khan areas of the capital yesterday for allegedly deceiving people through mobile phone calls, reports UNB.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-4 conducted a drive in front of Sony Cinema Hall in Mirpur Section-1 area and arrested three people, including two Nigerians, and another Nigerian from Kalshi in Pallabi area in the dead of night, said assistant deputy inspector general Khandaker Lutful Kabir, commanding officer of Rab-4. Later, they arrested four Nigerians from Ashkona in Dakkhin Khan area of the city.
The elite force also recovered 22 mobile phone sets, 3500 naira (currency of Nigeria), 301 dollar (US), 500 dinar (currency of Bahrain) and 1,41,000 taka from their possession.
Details about the arrestees will be disclosed at a press briefing later, added the commanding officer.
