BIDS Research ALMANAC begins from today
Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) has organised a Two-day long major dissemination event entitled BIDS Research ALMANAC 2016 from today at La Vita Hall, Lakeshore Hotel, Gulshan-2 in the capital, says a press release.
This is an annual event where BIDS researchers discuss their research findings based on recently completed work before audience. A H M Mustafa Kamal, FCA, MP, Minister, Ministry of Planning will be present as chief guest in the inaugural session. This session will be chaired by Dr K A S Murshid, Director General, BIDS.
Confce of Local Governance Programme today
Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University will organise a National Conference of Local Governance Programme--Sharique 2016 today at 10am at Hotel Le Meridien in the capital, says a press release.
The conference is organised to celebrate a decade of Sharique projects activities.
Abul Hasnat Abdullah, MP, President, Parliamentary Standing Committee for the Ministry of LGRD Cooperatives, will be the chief guest in the conference. Christian Fotsch, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh, will join the conference as special guest.
83,850 liters liquor destroyed
During a massive anti-drugs operation, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 83,850 liters of country-made liquor and destroyed those in Rajshahi on Monday, RAB sources here said yesterday.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a hectic drive in the village and seized the drugs after unearthing a number of liquor factories.
The team also arrested two persons including a woman from there. They were identified as Aklima, 45, wife of Alimuddin Sheikh and Selim Hossain, 30, son of Bahar Hossain. Afterwards, the arrested persons were produced before a mobile court.
