Rubel goes Down Under replacing Shahid
22-member squad for camp in Sydney and tour of NZ

Fast bowler Rubel Hossain has replaced paceman Mohammad Shahid in the 22-man squad for the preparation camp in Sydney, Australia and the Tour of New Zealand 2016 after the latter was ruled out following his injury.
Rubel was discarded from the national team after playing first two ODIs against Afghanistan in last October. Thereafter he couldnt make the cut in the national fold for the series against New Zealand. The selectors showed their displeasure over his fitness and skill. He was though in the stand by list.
But in the ongoing BPL, the fast bowler got back with bang and played immensely well to force the selectors consider him as Shahid was ruled out with knee injury.
Rubel, a Rangpur Riders player of the BPL, picked up 15 wickets at an average of 21.06 in 12 matches. His best bowling figure in the BPL was three for 25.
His performance against Afghanistan was frustrating. He was not in his best and it was clear that he had lack in the fitness. Thats why we didnt consider him in the main list but he was in the stand by list, Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said.
In the BPL, he showed he has worked enough on his fitness which was evidenced in his performance. So when Shahid got injured, he became the main choice of us.
Dhaka Dynamites pacer Shahid injured his knee during the process of resisting a boundary against Comilla Victorians on November 26. He was sidelined immediately after the incident and was ruled out for the whole tournament.
BCB chief physician Dr. Devashis Chowdhury on last Sunday informed that Shahid needs to take rest one week more. His condition will be assessed after three days again. Splitting into two teams, the Bangladesh cricket team will head to Sydney, Australia for a preparation camp on December 9 and 10. After having a week long practice session there, they will fly for New Zealand on December 18.
