Title aspirants Dhaka Dynamites will compete against Khulna Titans in the Qualifier-1 of the T20 Tournament of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) today at 5:45pm.
Both Dynamites and Titans held their pre-match day practice session for the first play-off. Khulna Titans did their training at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) at morning session, while Dhaka Dynamites held at the SBNSC at afternoon session because Rajshahi Kings and Chittagong Vikings were practicing at the NCA ground at that time.
This will be third encounter for Dhaka and Khulna in BPL-4. Dhaka Dynamites conceded loss to Khulna Titans in their last two meetings that were of course in league stage matches. Titans had confirmed their tickets for the play-off overwhelming star-studded Dynamites by six wickets in the league phase-ending match on Sunday.
The winners of today’s match will march into the final but if the team lose the match, they will then get another chance to play the Qualifier-2, where they will face-off the winners of the Eliminator.
There is no injury scare in Dynamites arsenal ahead of the high-octane match. Andre Russell and Evin Lewis joined the team’s practice led by skipper Shakib Al Hasan with Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ravi Bopara, Seekkuge Prasanna and other local players.
Despite having two options in hands of playing into the final, Dhaka Dynamites missed to capitalise it as they had derailed from the eliminator round in BPL-3. This time they don’t want to go for the second option what Mosaddek Hossain Saikat said before their pre-match day practice session that they want to go into the final by triumphing the first-qualifier against Khulna Titans.
“Last time when I played for Dhaka Dynamites we had derailed from eliminator. We had then two options in hands. We wanted to go into the final by winning two matches but unfortunately we could not do this,” said Mosaddek Hossain.
“This time we have promoted to the play-off as the number one team. We have two options this time also. But we don’t want to go for the second option,” Saikat told media.
“We have plans to win the very first match and go into the final by winning this. We have no alternative thinking except this,” he added.
Dynamites’ binding player said that they will not conduct any experiment and get down for winning the match against Titans.
“The day for experiment has been finished. Now we have appeared in play-off stage, from where winners will go into the final. And those teams, who will be lost, will be dropped out of the tournament. We have no option to look other sides. Now our main target is to win the match against Khulna,” the 20-year-old all-rounder said.
Mymensingh-born lad said that they are focusing only on their own game how they will implement their hundred percent in the must-win stage.
“We are not worried a bit about our rival. We are just focusing on our own game and team. We are focusing on how we will set our planning and how we will play our games. We are not thinking about what Khulna are doing,” the promising youngster said.
Saikat, who scored 91 runs-the third best of Dynamites after Mehedi Maruf (332) and Sangakkara (325), said that he wants to contribute more for the team’s success.
“Actually I do not get chance much to score runs. It is seen that I get four-five overs to play when I get down batting. Sometimes I got 10 overs or two-three overs. Actually I try to bat as per the situation of the match,” the in-form batsman signed off.
