Outgoing FAO Representative calls on DU VC
Outgoing Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative to Bangladesh Mike Robson yesterday paid a farewell call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at his latters office on the campus.
Assistant FAO Representative Dr Nur Ahamed Khondaker was present at the farewell meeting, among others, said a DU press release. During the meeting, Prof Arefin thanked Mike Robson for successfully completion of his assigned duty in Bangladesh. The VC also said He (Mike) played pivotal role in undertaking various development projects on food security in Bangladesh during his tenure, the release added. Mike Robson also praised Bangladeshs achievements in the food security and climate change issues. He, however, assured Prof Arefin to continue the ongoing support and cooperation of FAO to Bangladesh in this regard and hoped that the country would move forward in the future.
Later, Mike Robson addressed a dissemination ceremony of the end-line survey reports of IAHBI (Integrated Agriculture and Health-based Interventions for Improved Food and Nutrition Security in Selected Districts of Southern Bangladesh) and Poultry Bio-security Project at INFS auditorium on the campus. DU Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (INFS) organised the programme while Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the university Prof Nasreen Ahmad addressed the function as the chief guest.
3-day Intl confce begins at RUET Dec 8
RAJSHAHI: A three-day international conference on Electrical Computer Telecommunication ICECTE 2016 will be held at the Rajshhai University of Engineering Technology (RUET) on December 8-10 at the university central auditorium, a press release said.
Prof Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grants Communication (UGC) to be present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony on December 8 while RUET vice-chancellor Prof Md Rafiqul Islam Beg will address as chief patronize here. Electrical Computer engineering department organised in this conference, the researchers of Australia, Chine, Malaysia and Germany will take a part.
IU A and B units admission tests results published
KUSHTIA: The results of first year honours courses of A and B unit admission tests under Theology Faculty and Humanities and Social Science faculty of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia were published.
Coordinator of A unit Professor Dr ABM Faruque said the results were published on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, the admission test results of B unit were published on Monday. Member of B-unit Professor Dr M Jahangir Hossain said, Students will be informed about the schedule of viva-voce through university notice board soon. Detailed results of the admission test are available on the university website www.iu.ac.bd.
Job fair held AIUB
American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) organised the annual AIUB Job Fair 2016 yesterday at the AIUB FBA Building, Banani, Dhaka, says a press release.
The Vice-chancellor of AIUB Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna and Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees Mrs. Nadia Anwar inaugurated the fair. More than 90 renowned national and multinational companies including banks, IT solutions, mobile operators, networking solution providers, pharmaceuticals, leasing finance companies, call centers, automobile companies, real-estate companies, JOB portals, agro-based companies, accessories and equipment companies and some FMCGs also participated. Vice chancellor Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna and Vice-chairman, Board of Trustees Mrs. Nadia Anwar visited the stalls and expressed their thanks and gratitude to the participating companies.
