Fair on family relation today
Amrai Pari’ (WE CAN) as a part of 16 days campaign this year is going to organise an programme under the title “Fair : Equal Respect in Family Relation” today at Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital yesterday, says a press release.
Nuruzzaman Ahmed, MP, State Minister for Social Welfare will attend as the chief guest of the inaugural programme. Sultana Kamal will chair the programme. In the fair ʻAmrai Pari’ will portray equal family relation. The aim of this fair is to encourage the violence free family relation. Some services of family life will exhibit in this fair.
Award giving ceremony held
Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP) has recognized an award giving ceremony titled JayaPati Award on Saturday at Biswa Sahitya Kendra auditorium in the capital on Saturday marking 30 years of DORP, says après release.
Seven “JayaPati” were awarded at the function. Political Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina H T Imam has handed over the crests as the chief guest of the programme. Kazi Rozi, and Nurjahan Begum Mukta, Members of Parliament from women reserved seats, were present as special guests. Founder of DORP and laureate, Gusi Peace Prize International AHM Nouman has presided over the program as chair.
9 fined for ripening tomato using chemical
A mobile court has fined nine traders on charge of their ripening tomato by chemicals at helipad area in Rajshahi district yesterday.
On a tip-off, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) led by Executive Magistrate Munir Hossain conducted a raid at the area at 12 noon and found the traders ripening tomato by spraying harmful chemicals. Subsequently, the court fined them Taka one lakh. The fined traders were identified as Sadiqul Islam, 34, Lal Miah, 60, Mujibur Kazi, 40, Alamgir Sarder, 35, Ratan Sarder, 38, Liton, 35, Belal Fakir, 34, Mosharraf Hossain, 32, and Belal Uddin, 34.
Young learners get certificate
The certificate giving ceremony of British Council’s ‘Young Learners’ Digital Pen Pal Project’ was held at its office on the capital's Fuller Road on Friday, says a press release.
The project is a global initiative to connect children from different countries so that they can learn about and appreciate cultures around world through authentic writing that develops their communicative competence in English. It also focuses on 21st century skills like digital skills, social and global awareness and citizenship. Participants from both the Uttara and Fuller Road Teaching Centres were presented certificates on Friday in recognition of their enthusiastic participation after successfully completing the first series of tasks.
