Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport & Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday urged all to come forward to give democracy an institutional shape, reports BSS.
“It’s very difficult to institutionalise democracy without the help of all . . . All political parties must come forward to institutionalise democracy in the country,” he said.
Quader was talking to journalists in capital’s Doyel Chattar area near Dhaka University campus after placing a wreath at the grave of legendary political leader Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy on the occasion of his 53th death anniversary.
Replying to a query on Narayanganj City Corporation polls, the AL general secretary said BNP has become habituated to repeating their broken records (same complaints) centring the election.
“BNP morally sees defeat prior to all elections . . . They are doing the same thing in Narayanganj right now,” Quader observed.
Earlier, different political and socio-cultural organisations, including Bangladesh Awami League, its associate bodies and like-minded organisations, and different professional bodies paid homage to the late leader by placing wreaths on the occasion.
