Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight raid arrested five youths from the capital’s Badda area for their alleged involvement in arms trading. RAB-1 Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Tuhin Muhammad Masud confirmed it to The Independent.
He said four foreign pistols, nine magazines and 38 bullets were seized from their possessions. The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Rubel Sheikh, M Sohel Molla, M Bahed Sheikh, Mohammad Babbas Mia and Ariful Islam Arif.
RAB-1 boss said during the interrogation, they confessed their involvement in importing illegal firearms and ammunitions and subsequently supplying those to the criminals. During the primary interrogation, they admitted that they were also involved in illegal drug peddling, robberies and different criminal activities in capital and its adjoining areas, said Lt Col Tuhin.
