The 53nd death anniversary of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, one of the great leaders of the sub-continent, will be observed today in the country through various programmes. Different socio-political, cultural and professional organisations including the ruling Awami League have organised various programmes marking the death anniversary of the great leader. The programmes include placing wreaths at the grave of Suhrawardy, discussions, Qurankhwani, milad and doa mahfil. Leaders and workers of Awami League would pay tribute to one of their most prominent leaders in history by placing wreaths at the grave of Suhrawardy in the capital. Suhrawardy left Muslim League to join the newly formed Awami League in 1952 and when the Awami League formed a coalition government in Pakistan in 1956, the AL leader became the 5th prime minister of Pakistan. He died on this day in Lebanon in 1963.
