‘Tasmina: The Horse Girl’ selected from Bangladesh

A documentary film ‘Tasmina: The Horse Girl’ from Bangladesh has been selected for the final competition at Olympia Film Festival for Children and Young People. The festival is taking place from December 3 to 10 in Pyrgos, Greece. Faridur Rahman, director of ‘Tasmina: The Horse Girl’, has reached to Athens, Greece on Friday to attend the 19th Olympia Film Festival. This is the second largest film festival for children and young people in Europe. A number of 421 films are being screened in twelve different venues during the festival. 64 films from 34 countries had been selected for the main competition section. There are 19 full-length feature films and 45 medium and short duration film including animation films and documentaries. 17 documentaries have been scheduled to be shown in the competition and ‘Tasmina: The Horse Girl’ is one of them. 21 film making workshops for the children, 6 film appreciation workshops and 18 seminars for the film makers and school teachers will be organised during the film festival. The main theme of the festival is ‘Cultural Difference and Tolerance of the Children achieved through Films.’
Meanwhile, ‘Tasmina: The Horse Girl’ received several international recognitions, including Best Short Documentary, Women’s International Entertainment Film Festival, Prix Jeunesse Theme Prize and Gender Equity Prize Nomination at Prix Jeunesse International Film Festival, Munich, Germany. The documentary’s official selection and honourable mention include LA Cinefest, Los Angeles; Transylvania Short Film Festival, Tirgu-Mures, Romania;  24th Contravision Film Festival, Berlin, Germany and DocuTIFF, Tirana, Albania, Festival Film Rakyat, Bogor, Indonesia and Olympia Film Festival for Children and Young People, Pyrgos, Greece.
