Saima Wazed Hossain elected as Chairperson of International Jury Board
Ms. Saima Wazed Hossain, Chairperson of Shuchona Foundation and the National Advisory Committee on Autism in Bangladesh, is to attend an award ceremony of the UNESCO/Emir Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Prize for Digital Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, on the 2nd of December, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. Ms. Hossain has been elected as the Chairperson of the International Jury Board for the next two years.
The Prize, introduced with the financial support of Kuwait, is offered to both an individual and an organization that has made outstanding contributions in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities through the application of digital resources, solutions and technologies. The award ceremony will be part of a half-day event celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to promote awareness and mobilize support for critical issues relating to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society and development.
The theme for this years International Day is Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want. This theme notes the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and the role of these goals in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.
During this event, Ms. Saima Wazed Hossain will also participate in a high-level panel discussion with high-level speakers and international experts, working in this particular subject area.
