Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday asked Air Force personnel to be more careful while using and maintaining aircraft, radars and war equipment as those have been procured with people’s hard-earned money, reports UNB. "You’ll have to develop yourselves as skilled and ideal air force soldiers and need to be more careful in using war equipment," she told the Bangladesh Air Force personnel. The Prime Minister was addressing the National Standard Award Ceremony of the Bangladesh Air Force base Bangabandhu on its parade ground at Dhaka Cantonment in the capital. She also instructed the Air Force members to perform their responsibilities with utmost sincerity both at home and abroad.
Sheikh Hasina also directed them to uphold the honour, dignity and pride of the national standard through their patriotism and professionalism.
She mentioned that the government is always ready to support all the development activities of the BAF base Bangabandhu.
Hasina hoped that the Air Force members will be able to bring more successes for the country and the nation through their efficiency, professionalism and tireless hard works.
She said they will be able to develop themselves taking lessons from the Liberation War history and fulfill the hopes and aspirations of people.
The Prime Minister said Bangladesh Air Force is a high standard technical force where professional efficiency is very important.
Hasina said the Father of the Nation took steps to develop a modern, professional and efficient Air Force, adding the state-of-the art MiG-21, Transport Air craft, helicopter and air defence radar system to the Force.
As per the forces’ Goal 2030 framed following the defence policy of Bangabandhu, she said her government added most modern MiG -29 fighter plane, high powered Air defence Radar system, large scale C-130 transport aircraft and other heavy and sophisticated equipment to the Air Force.
In the light of forces’ Goal-2030, the Prime Minister said, the government has continued its efforts to develop it as the most modern and powerful force.
She termed the air base Bangabandhu the most traditional and the biggest air base of Bangladesh Air Force and said its role in safeguarding the sky of the country and resisting attacks of the enemy fighters is very important.
In the international arena, she said, the BAF members have already earned pride and honour for the country through participating in the UN Peace keeping missions.
The Prime Minister hoped that Bangladesh would be the most peaceful country in South Asia overcoming all conspiracies and turned into a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed nation by 2041.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded the prestigious National Standard to Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu.
On her arrival on the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu, the Prime Minister was received by chief of air staff air chief Air Marshal Abu Esrar and air officer commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu Air Commodore M Mafidur Rahman.
During the National Standard Award ceremony, the Prime Minister witnessed the parade at the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu. The parade was commanded by Group Captain Reza
Emdad Khan.
During the parade, Prime Minister was given the national salute and three cheer up echo, and a helicopter pass with National Flag was conducted.
Besides, a fabulous fly past by MiG-29, F-7BG and F-7BG1 fighter aircrafts were operated. Then special munajat was offered for the preservation of honour of national standard.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister signed a visitor's book. The Prime Minister also attended a photography session with the selected senior officers and airmen.
Ministers, state ministers, advisers, foreign diplomats, the chief of Naval Staff, Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division and other senior officers of armed forces, paramilitary forces and civil dignitaries were present on the occasion.
According to an ISPR release, Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu is the main base of Bangladesh Air Force which is known as 'Home of Fighters'.
