A seven-day workshop on "New VAT Law and Income Tax" began yesterday at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in the capital, reports BSS.
Bangladesh Tax Training Institute (BTTI) organised the workshop aimed at providing necessary knowledge about new VAT law and income tax to the government and corporate officials.
Member of Audit and Intelligence at National Board of Revenue (NBR) M Rezaul Hasan inaugurated the workshop.
Among others, former secretary of Agriculture Ministry Shyamal Kanti Ghosh, Customs and VAT Commissioner of the Dhaka South City Kazi Mostafizur Rahman and Chief Executive Officer of BTTI Shymol Chandra Sarker also spoke on the occasion.
Rezaul Hasan said the government has taken various initiatives, including establishing online services and easing the rules and regulation of VAT and income tax, to make tax-friendly environment and increase the tax net.
A total of 40 officials of 30 government organisations and corporate houses are taking part in the workshop.
