Pace prodigy Mustafizur Rahman is almost ready for the next Down Under tours of Bangladesh team. He recuperated from his left-shoulder injury two months before the prediction period of the six months. Rahman was in rehabilitation programme for the last four months after his surgical operation in London.
He bowled with 90 percent intensity in two spells at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday. National team’s strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayen supervised him. At that time Ebadot Hossain, who is also struggling for his fitness, bowled beside Mustafiz with the same intensity.
Bangladesh will next play a full series against New Zealand, starting December 26, 2016 to January 25, 2017. Of course, they will hold a 10-day conditioning camp in Sydney, Australia before the outset of the New Zealand tour.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meanwhile announced a 22-member preliminary squad for the Australian camp and New Zealand tour, where both Mustafiz and Ebadot have been included.
BCB chief physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury confirmed the news, stating that they bowled with 90 percent intensity and the rest things will rely on team management.
“In today’s practice session, both Mustafiz and Ebadot have bowled. They bowled with their 80-90 intensity. Our trainer is delighted to see their progresses. Along with that, it is a matter of delight that they could bowl in two spells. They achieved 80-90 percent without complaint,” said Dr Debashis Chowdhury.
“That’s meant that they almost completed their fitness level. They will give their hundred percent while they will go in the match situation. When they give their 80-90 percent we assumed that the achievement has been completed,” Dr Chowdhury told media.
“We have left some more days in hands. There will be held another gym and bowling session within this period. Thereafter, selector and team management will decide for the tours of Australia and New Zealand,” he added.
When asked they will do what in Australia, Debashis said that they will do practice and drill with the team’s players.
“As they could have bowled with 80-90 percent intensity we will assume that they will take part in the practice drill with the other players of the team. They will follow the practice schedule what the team’s players will do in Australia and New Zealand,” he told in response to a query.
Pacer Mohammad Shahid and leg-spinner Tanvir Haider among the 22-man squad were injured during the BPL. Of them, Tanvir Haider is due to join his BPL team, Dhaka Dynamites being healed from injury. But chief physician said that they will take the next procedure for Shahid after one week.
“Mohammad Shahid sustained injury last week. Today we have examined the ACL injury that he sustained in his right-knee ligament. The situation of his knee is better than the past. We have done some tests, where he successfully passed. But he has to stay in bed rest for his present condition. We will review his injury within the next two-three days once again. Thereafter, we could be informed you all for the next procedure,” Debashis elaborated.
