Bangladesh has sought Japan’s continued support to achieve its development goals mentioning that Japan has been a ‘trusted and tested friend’ for Bangladesh’s socio-economic development, reports UNB.
“I’m confident as in the past, Japan will continue to be a trusted partner in our endavour to realise or development goals,” Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali told a function in the capital yesterday.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Masato Watanabe hosted the reception at his residence on the occasion of the birthday of the Emperor of Japan.
Politicians, diplomats, business leaders, civil society members and journalists were present.
The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh government is also working to become a digital knowledge-based middle-income country by 2021 with a long-term aspiration to make Bangladesh a ‘developed country’ by 2041.
Terming Japan the single largest development partner of Bangladesh, the Foreign Minister said Bangladesh deeply appreciates Japan’s Official Development Assistance and for a further package of assistance to Bangladesh for ensuring continued economic development.
