Prime Minister's Economic Affairs Adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman called for raising the institutional capacity of different entities, especially the public ones, to encourage people to invest their small savings, reports BSS.
"People feel safe to invest their small savings if institutional capacity of different organizations such as stock markets, their regulators and insurance sector is increased to face internal-external risks," he told a discussion on the role of capital marker in economic development at Bangladesh Capital Market Expo-2016 in the capital yesterday.
He said the economy of the country is facing more risks as it is getting more integrated with the global one. If the economies of countries importing RMG items from Bangladesh face any crisis, Bangladesh will have to bear its impact as RMG exports will setback, he added.
The government, he said, has been taken steps to improve the institutional capacity of its different bodies so that those organizations can face internal-external risks properly.
Organised by online news portal 'Artha Suchak' with its editor Ziaur Rahman in the chair, it was also, addressed, among others, by chief economist of Bangladesh Bank Birupaksha Paul, Dr Helal Uddin Nezami of Bangladesh Securities Exchange Commission and Dr Mohammad Abdul Majid of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).
Birupaksha Paul called for creating awareness among the people about the capital market, saying that the people will come forward to invest their money judiciously when they will know about the capital market properly.
