The sixth session of the 10th parliament was prorogued yesterday with unanimously adopting the thanksgiving motion on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s contribution to turning Bangladesh into a lower middle-income status country, reports BSS.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the President after 26 working days of the session that saw the passage of Taka 2,95,100 crore national budget for 2015-16 fiscal year.
Prior to reading out the prorogation order, the Speaker in her valedictory speech urged all parliament members belonging to the both treasury and opposition benches to play their constructive role in making the Jatiya Sangsad effective to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of people.
“The budget session of the JS became lively with the active participation of treasury and opposition lawmakers . . . their valuable opinion played a significant role in making the budget for fiscal 2015-16 more constructive,” she said while delivering concluding address.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith placed the Taka 2,95,100 crore national budget for the fiscal 2015-16 in the House on June 4.
She congratulated the lawmakers for taking part in the discussion on the budget and hoped that the lawmakers of the treasury bench and opposition would continue to play their constructive role in the House in future.
