Rangpur Riders’ paceman Anwer Ali praised the performance of the front line batsmen, stating that they won the do or die match against Barisal Bulls for the outstanding performance of their top-order batsmen.
By winning this match, Riders promoted their position and kept their hopes alive in the next top-four team competition. Along with that, the derailment of Comilla Victorians and Barisal Bulls has been ensured.
Rangpur Riders are now placed third with 12 points just after table-topper Dhaka Dynamites (16) and Chittagong Vikings (12).
“It was important game for us especially today’s match. Guys won the match by playing well in all the departments,” said Anwer Ali, who claimed so far two wickets from five matches after resuming his BPL stint on November 18.
“The front line batsmen batted very well today in this do or die match. Hopefully we are now better positioned on points table for the next round competition,” Ali told media at the post-match briefing at the Media Block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday.
On the other hand, Barisal Bulls’ English all-rounder Dawid Malan regretted for the departure of the team and said that the way they started they could not carry on that performance to the end.
“It’s disappointing especially we were two or three in the first phase at Dhaka. I think that was very disappointing for us. From that position we could not progress to the top-four,” said Dawid Malan.
“We have enough people to play, no to depend on the rest of the team. We have won some games by collective team performance. Later we could not perform our team game and that the team turned to be single-handed man. I think if we could have played well as the team then such position would not be made,” Malan told newsmen.
“I had injury and so we had changed a couple of games. We had lost some games in Chittagong and that the start of the rut,” he added.
