HU XIAORONG

Starting 00:00 AM January 5, 2017, China will begin to implement the new train working program. The Shanghai Railway Bureau will increase eleven pairs of passenger trains, including seven pairs connecting areas of the Yangtze River Delta to Kunming.

Seven pairs of high-speed railway (HSR) trains will run on the Guiyang-Kunming section, which will go into operation soon. This number includes two new pairs and five extended pairs. Compared with a common passenger train trip, a HSR train trip from the Yangtze River Delta to Kunming will be shortened from three days to ten hours.

The Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway, has a total length of 2,266 kilometres and a design speed of 350 kilometres per hour. It will be China’s longest east-west HSR line and run through the largest number of provinces of any existing Chinese railway lines.
