Two killed in ‘crossfire’ with RAB in capital

Two alleged criminals were killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Balur Math in Rampura area of the capital early yesterday.

They were identified as Pabitra Sarder hailing from Jhalkathi and Md Ali alias Swapan, hailing from Shariatpur district.
Talking to The Independent, Khandakar Golam Sarwar, commanding officer of RAB-3 said the gunfight took place between a group of miscreants and a patrol team of RAB around 3am, leaving two miscreants severely injured. 
Later, they were whisked off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared both of them dead.
RAB-3 chief Lt Col Sarwar said there are several criminal cases against Pabitra in city’s Badda Police Station.
Swapan was also accused in several criminal cases with Rampura Police Station.
They were involved in the recent mugging in a mobile banking shop in city’s Rampura area.Their pictures were captured in the CCTV cameras which were installed in the adjacent shops, he said.
The bodies were kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsies.
