BPL governing council member sectary IH Mallick reiterated the stern stance of the board regarding indiscipline, stating that they have taken their action against the discipline breakers so that such kind of attitude did not spread amongst the younger players.
BPL member secretary also said that the BCB always showed zero tolerance regarding indiscipline what they once again got from the board president before the T20 tournament.
“We have taken our action to see it as alarming so that it does not spread amongst our young players and that they did not step to go into the wrong way. But it was not a big issue of alarming,” said IH Mallick.
“Our president ordered us what is still in force. We will not retract from taking any harsh decision regarding indiscipline whether it is in BPL or BCL or NCL or other tournaments. This time when we got to know we have taken our decision after holding swift hearing,” Mallick told media.
Citing the payment of the Rangpur Frnachisee, this BCB director said that they have sacrificed a year to cleanse up the BPL from all the controversies, irregularities and players’ payment issues.
“The matter of Rangpur is a bit different. Their ownership has been changed. Sohana Sports purchased from I-Sports. When they purchased the new ownership they signed a deal with us that they will clear all the dues of the players’ payment. As per the deal, they paid some arrears and will pay for the others’ payment. If they fail to pay the rest of the payment, then we have their cash guarantee in hands we will give it from there,” he said.
The director said that they have deployed anti-corruption and intelligence unit in team’s hotel to look after the players.
“Party culture is always in T20 cricket. It has in every country. In Bangladesh, matches are being ended at 10pm. They are going back at 12pm. If any team wins the match they are offering party after that in hotel or other place. We have no negative approach towards celebration party but it does not go beyond the limit or any player doesn’t dare to break the discipline. For this, we have deployed our anti-corruption and intelligence unit. We are taking our action what comes to our attention,” BCB director said.
Supporting Mushfiqur Rahim’s opinion, Mallick said that there will be win or lose in a game but you can’t make such comment as a celebrity.
“Asif Akbar brought such allegation on the base of assumption. In that case, Mushfiq made a perfect comment over it,” he said, adding “There will be win or lose in a game. Chittagong staged a outstanding comeback after losing so many matches. Actually you can’t guarantee of winning a match being formed a well-balanced team in T20.”
Citing two successful sides, Mallick lauded BPL and said that they have organised the BPL for what reason are successful in its purpose.
“We’ll talk about tournament in the light of popularity along with that how many players are performing in it. In that case, I will say that the tournament is successful in three aspects. One is our local players are performing very well. Personally I talked with the players including Tamim, Shakib, Mushfiq and Riyad. All of them told me that they are getting benefit from the tournament. Second is a bunch of young players have performed better. Miraj and Mehedi Maruf are playing well. Shahriar Nafees has comeback. Third is BPL is being telecasted in
the highest number of the countries after IPL. We sold its media rights by staggering amount of money. We are so far successful in all aspects,” he signed off.
