A court yesterday sentenced two members of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 20 years rigorous imprisonment each in a case filed under the Explosives Act in 2009.
Additional District and Session Judge and also the Judge of Chapainawabganj Special Tribunal-2 M Ziaur Rahman gave this verdict.
The convicted persons are Momin, 28, son of Toyeb Ali of Koiladiar village under Gomostapur upazila and Ramzan Ali, 31, son of Tofazzal Hoque of Kharakpur Ghuntola village in Bholahat upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, police arrested Momin with five rounds of bullets, arms making equipments and Islamic revolutionary books on June 14, 2009 from Kharagpur of Shibganj upazila.
According to Momin’s confessional statement, police conducted a drive at the house of Ramzan Ali at Kharakpur Ghuntola village in Bholahat upazila on June 17, 2009 and recovered a shutter gun and three rounds of bullets.
Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman filed a case with Bolahat Police Station accusing Ramzan and Momin.
