Rakib-Gafur elected Jessore BAR president, secretary

Awami League backed Awami Ainjibi Parishad candidate Sharif Abdur Rakib and Jatiyatabadi Oikya Forum candidate MA Gafur have been elected president and general secretary of Jessore Bar Association respectively.

The Awami League backed panel won 12 out of the total 17 executive posts in the annual election of the association held on Tuesday. A total of 470 voters, out of 486, casted their votes.
Others elected executives of AL backed panel are Md. Tajmilur Rahman Sarder alias Swapan (vice-president), Serajul Islam Lentu (joint secretary), Palak
Kumar Mitra (assistant secretary) and members Shahina Akter Suborna, Zahangir Alam, Shanaz Parvin Chanda, Ekramul Islam Mukul, Bashir Ahmed Khan, Golam Nabi, Afroza Sultana Rony and Abdullah Al Masud.
Other Jatiyatabadi Oikya Forum panel backed elected executives are Borhan Uddin Jakir (vice-president), BM Jafor Altaf (assistant secretary) and Mizanur Rahman (library secretary).
In one of the executive committee posts, Jatiyatabadi Oikya Forum candidate Mahmuda Khanom and her rival Abdul Latif Morol tied with 208 votes each.
