Policeman’s wife ‘commits suicide’

The wife of a police sub-inspector reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Choto Anchra village in Benapole port area on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Jannatul Islam Tripti, 30, wife of sub-inspector Rakibul Islam, a resident of the area.
SI Rakib said he returned home at 9.00 pm on Tuesday from his office and found his room locked from inside. As Rakib did not get any response from inside after knocking the door for a while, he called his neighbours and entered the room breaking open the door and found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan.
Officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station Apurba Hasan said Tripti committed suicide, but it is still not clear what prompted the housewife to kill herself.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
