To show his enduring affection for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a farmer in Kanaikathi village of Damudya Upazila in Shariatpur has engraved the name of ‘Bangabandhu’ in the belly of his son.
The farmer one- Adam Ali- engraved ‘Bangabandhu’ at the belly of his son Mohammad Gias Uddin during the war of liberation in 1971. It was discovered by Sirajul Haq Sardar, a famous valiant freedom fighter. Sardar bought bricks from Gias Uddin, a small supplier of bricks.
Upon delivering the bricks at Sardar’s house, Gias Uddin opened his shirt as he sweated a lot. Then, Sardar noticed something was written in his bare belly.
He then found out that the written word was ‘Bangabandhu’.
Being startled at the discovery, the veteran freedom fighter asked Gias that who had engraved the word in his body. Gias replied that his ‘father’.
Gais’s mother Soyful Bibi, who died some eight months ago, told freedom fighter Siraj that her husband had a great affection for Bangabandhu.
“He was a poor man so it was not possible for him to show his love for Bangabandhu by building monuments or writing Bangabandhu’s name in gold,” she said.
