Star-studded Dhaka Dynamites will fight against Rangpur Riders to consolidate their top position in the day’s first match of the third phase of the BPL-4 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) at 1:00pm today.

This will be second match for both Dynamites and Riders. In the first meeting, which was also held in Dhaka, Dynamites crushed Riders by comprehensive 78 runs in the high-scoring match.
Although both the teams played the identical number of nine matches, Dhaka Dynamites posted one more victory than Rangpur Riders. They are now on pole position on points table with 12, while Rangpur Riders placed fifth with 10 points.
At this moment, three teams including Chittagong Vikings, Rajshahi Kings and Rangpur Riders have the same 10 points but because of the better net run-rate Vikings placed third just after Dynamites (12) and Khulna Titans (12), while Kings and Riders are in fourth and fifth respectively.
This match is important for Rangpur Riders like Dynamites to go into the next phase. It is difficult to predict whose teams are going into the next important phase. This time it is being seemed that the competition will be more amongst the teams for the third and fourth place.
It is good news for Dynamites that their West Indian recruit Andre Russell is coming again along with Evin Lewis. The pace all-rounder Russell went back to Windies due to his injury after playing some matches. But Lewis could not come in Dhaka due to his national engagement. His inclusion surely will bolster the Dynamites’ line-up.
Both Dynamites and Riders held their pre-match day practice session at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday, where Dynamites all-rounder Nasir Hossain spoke to the media.
Nasir said that they want to strengthen their position by winning all the three matches of the third phase of the tournament.
“Team mood of course is good as we are on pole position on the points table. We are not yet to sure that we are going to qualify for the next phase because we have left three matches,” said Nasir Hossain. “And that’s three matches are very important for us. Hopefully we will try to stay on top or second by winning all the three matches, Inshaallah,” Hossain told newsmen. It was shocking news for Dhaka Dynamites to lose the pace spearhead Mohamamd Shahid after Andre Russell. But Russell has come back, which would be boon for them on way to their upcoming important clashes.
“Shahid is our local player, who was also in good form. He could not play for us due to injury. On the other hand, Andre Russell is coming,” he said, adding “I don’t think that he will fill up the deficit of Shahid.
But it will then be better for us. We’ll get at least his service. He is fit to play match.”
Nasir’s batting position has been promoted from 7-8 to 3-4, which gave him ample chance to prove himself what he was seeking. He said that he enjoys playing at top-order and wants to continue it ahead.
“I still have left some more games. The way I played the last matches I will try to continue it,” the spin all-rounder said.
“Actually it relies on type of match. It is one in Test, it is different in one-day or T20. I feel quite better to bat at No three-four position in BPL. Actually I am enjoying batting at top-order,” he also said.
