Bangladesh women’s cricket team maintained their winning spree when they registered the second back-to-back victory beating their Nepalese counterparts by comprehensive 92 runs in their third match of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Asian Institute of Technology ground, Bangkok yesterday.
The Tigress decided to bat first after winning the toss and put on 133 for four in 20 overs after which Nepal women’s cricket team were bundled out for 41 with 15 balls to spare.
Bangladesh made a good start through their openers-Sanjida Islam and Nigar Sultana-who stitched together 71 runs for the opening stand, which provided a solid ground for the other batters. Sanjida fell for 35. Together with Shaila Sharmin, Nigar Sultana tried to stretch the total and hit a 24-run for the third wicket, which crossed the 100-run mark. Nigar clouted 39 off 41 with one four. Skipper Rumana Ahmed’s late fire 9-ball 17 (not out) helped Bangladesh set a modest target of 134 runs for Nepal. Sangita Rai snared two wickets for the losers.
