A convicted criminal escaped from a toilet of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) outdoor department yesterday after he was released from the hospital.
According to Sub Inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, the criminal was identified as Sohel, 40.
He claimed that Sohel escaped through the ventilator of the toilet around 12noon. Senior Jail Super of the central jail Jahangir Kabir told The Independent that Sohel was serving a two-year imprisonment in a narcotics case filed under South Keraniganj Police Station. He said Sohel was admitted at ward No. 217 yesterday with urine infection under the supervision of jail guards Aziz and Nazrul.
He said Aziz and Nazrul were suspended for their negligence in duty.
