Make your dreams come true

Make your dreams come true

Fair & Lovely Foundation has always encouraged women to chase their dreams and supported them in their pursuits. On that mission, Fair and Lovely Foundation is investing in various business startups, vocational trainings and higher study scholarships for passionate women. In 2015 too, Fair & Lovely Foundation announced the campaign “Tomaar shopno koro shotti” (Make your dreams come true) campaign, asking for applications from women who want to change their lives through business, training or higher studies. The response was tremendous as more than 7000 applications were received. Based on their merit, a total of 357 applicants were selected. 350 of them received scholarship for higher education and vocational training, while 7 received financial support to start their own business. Today, we will get to know the inspirational story of one of those lucky dreamers.
Diti Akter
Vocational Training Certified

This is the inspirational story of a common woman from rural Bangladesh becoming a confident, self-sufficient individual as Fair & Lovely Foundation fueled her undying passion.
Diti Akter’s life took a turn towards the right direction when she received vocational training through Fair and Lovely Foundation’s “Tomaar shopno koro shotti” campaign.
Diti Akter is the second child of a poor farmer, living in a remote village of Kajla of Kutubpur Union in Sarikandi, located deep inside Bogra. Despite coming from this small village, isolated from technology, where even electricity was experienced for the first time only two months back, Diti dared to dream big. As a meritorious student of Science, Diti was always infatuated by the wonder machines called computers, something that she has only seen in her study books. Her cousin had explained to her the significance of computers in today’s world, which further increased her interest in this machine.
The fact that one can actually earn through computers gave her dreams a new direction, to work with computers and bring a positive change in her life.
However, the dream seemed quite impossible to achieve in a village where even electricity is a rarity. That’s when Diti learnt about Fair & Lovely Foundation’s campaign “Tomaar shopno koro shotti” through a local NGO. She knew this was her opportunity to change the course of her life.
She filled up a form that took her to Rajshahi for an interview, and finally, her dream was closer to her reach. She became one of the lucky recipients for a vocational training as she began to rewrite her own life story. She took a 2-month computer course in Rangpur, learning the basics of computer and online outsourcing. When asked, Diti, overwhelmed with emotions, said, “I am forever grateful to Fair & Lovely Foundation. I could never imagine that I, who has never even touched a computer, would do a course on computer and start earning though online outsourcing. It’s like a dream that I just can’t explain. All thanks to Fair & Lovely Foundation. I thank them for changing my life.”
Today, Diti is busy perusing her honors in Zoology from Kahalu Degree College in Bogra. Also, she is earning for herself and her family through online data entry that she learnt from the vocational training she received from Fair & Lovely Foundation.
Diti’s new life has only started and she has no plans to stop. Her dreams are only getting bigger now as she wishes to develop a team of her own to work with her. Someday, she also wants to build her own training center to change lives of others. Fair & Lovely Foundation is thus, giving women a new meaning to their lives by supporting them in the pursuit of their dreams.
