The authorities of Chittagong University (CU) have suspended its assistant proctor over Anwar Hossain over the death of BCL leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury, reports UNB. CU registrar Prof Dr Kamrul Huda said the decision was taken on Sunday night against the assistant proctor Anwar Hossain as he had been accused in a case filed in connection with the murder. Earlier, Diaz’s mother Zaheda Amin Chowdhury filed the case against 10 people, including the assistant proctor, with Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate’s court on Thursday.
The other accused are: BCL’s CU unit president Alamgir Tipu, the unit’s former acting president Jamshedul Alam Chowdhury and BCL activists Rashedul Alam, Abu Torab, Mizanur Rahman, Md Arman, Ariful Haque, Abdul Malek and Mansur Alam. Diaz, assistant secretary of the central BCL committee, was found hanged from the ceiling fan at his residence in Hathazari upazila on the night of November 20. The autopsy report said that the BCL leader took his own life by hanging himself. However, Diaz’s family members rejected the autopsy report and filed the case.
