Wife, her lover to die for killing husband

A court in the district sentenced a woman and her alleged lover to death for killing her husband at Bishnupur village in Sadar upazila on July 7, 2013.
Additional District and Sessions Judge of Chandpur Mamunur Rashid pronounced the verdict yesterday afternoon. The convicts are Shilpi Begum, 32, wife of expatriate Kolomtar Gazi of Bishnupur village in Chandpur Sadar upazila and her alleged lover Kabir Gazi, 28.In another section of the case, two convicts were sentenced to seven years jail.
According to the prosecution, Shilpi Begum and her lover Kabir Gazi killed Kolomtar Gazi, 42, when he came home on vacation. Quarrel picked up between the husband and wife when Kolomtar Gazi came to know that his wife had an extramarital affair with Kabir Gazi. On July 7, 2013, both Kabir Gazi and Shilpi stabbed Kolomtar to death inside the kitchen of their house. Later, they buried the body near the bathroom of the house.
On the following day, Shilpi filed a general diary with Chandpur Model Police Station claiming that her husband went missing. The murder was exposed when police questioned Shilpi. Police later arrested Kabir Gazi and exhumed the body of Kolomtar Gazi.
Kolomtar Gazi’s brother Liton Gazi filed a case with Chandpur Model Police Station accusing Shilpi and Kabir on July 11, 2013. Sub-inspector Manik submitted a chargesheet to the court against them on April 17, 2014 after investigation.After examining witnesses and relevant documents Additional District and Sessions Judge of Chandpur Mamunur Rashid pronounced the verdict.
