An ugly spat between Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Shahzad took a center stage in a BPL match between Rajshahi Kings and Rangpur Riders yesterday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
As it was seen from the press box that during the innings of Rajshahi Kings, Riders Afghanistan recruit and wicket-keeper Shahzad told something to Sabbir which angered the latter and sparked a verbal clash between the two in so much so that the umpires had to intervene.
Rajshahi recovered from the disastrous 43 for seven to amass 128 for seven thanks to Farhad Reza’s 44 not out and Mehedi Hasan Miraj’s 41 not out.
The incident was almost forgotten after the heroic of the two batsmen. But it came to the fore again with Sabbir being seen to teasing the batsman Shahzad who opened the innings for Riders.
After Mohammad Sami got Shahzad, the spat turned to ugly as he pointed the bat to Sabbir to say something which created a tension between the two teams and umpires had to intervene again. Till filing of this report, comments from the teams were not available.
