Bangladesh rout Thailand in ACC Women’s Cricket

Bangladesh women’s cricket team bounced back to winning ways as they thrashed the hosts Thailand women’s cricket team by 35 runs in their second match of ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok yesterday.

Put into bat first, Bangladesh managed to score 88 for six in 20 overs after which Thailand were bowled out for 53 with nine balls to spare.
Bangladesh lost two top-order batters cheaply to start their proceedings but opener Sanjida Islam shared a 42-run with Farzana Haque for the third wicket stand. Haque fell for 15. Then Sanjida tried to build up another big partnership but no one came up with ably support. Bangladesh scoring spree halted when Ayasha Rahman and Sanjida trudged back to the pavilion while they were sprawling at 5-62. Sanjida made 38 off 48 with one boundaries. Salma Khatun was on 10 not out. Suleeporn Laomi picked up three wickets for the local side.
Chasing the target, Thailand women’s cricket team fell into the spur of Jahanara Alam, who sent back Sutthiruang and Boochatham for nought.
Therefore, wickets were stumbling at regular intervals in the wake of Pannan Ghosh and Rumana Ahmed’s bowling onslaught. Panna snapped up four wickets for 9 and Rumana grabbed three for five. Nattakan Chantam hit 21 and Sornnarin Tippoch 10 for the hosts.
