To make Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021, the government will set up Hi-Tech Parks in 12 districts in the country by giving special priority on Information Technology (IT) sector, reports BSS.
Hosne Ara Begum, managing director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, said this while addressing as the chief guest at a seminar organised by Bangladesh Hi-Tech
Park Authority at the auditorium of the Deputy Commissioner office in the capital yesterday.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner M Khalilur Rahman it was addressed, among others, by Director of the Hi-Tech Park Authority M Hasanul Islam and Joint Secretary of Information Communication Technology (ICT) M Manjur Quader.
The districts are Gopalganj, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Keraniganj in Dhaka, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox Bazar, Rangpur, Natore, Sylhet, Barisal and Khulna.
The government has taken initiative to setup IT park in the Mymensingh district on seven acres of land in Bypass area near Mymensingh Engineering College under Sadar upazila spending Taka over 200 crore, she added.
Hosne Ara also said the objectives of the programme are to expansion of ICT industries with infrastructure development, training on ICT, make skilled manpower and creating employment opportunities for trained youths.
